Job Summary: The welder technician may use all kinds of welding and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment. Depending on staffing and production demands, this position may require the employee to work at any station during the workday. All employees may be expected to rotate to different workstations or be required to work on a specific workstation depending on experience, training, and skill level required to perform work tasks.  

Responsibilities:

  • Performs in and out-of-position welding.  
  • Performs hand fabricating. 
  • Participate in weld lab classroom training for Trane, ASME, and/or PED certifications as needed. 
  • Analyze blueprints and designs.
  • Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working on overhead assembles and on man lifts/platforms/risers/ladders. 
  • Will be required to lift up to 35 pounds. 
  • Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead. 
  • Must be able to follow standard work, complete production and maintenance records and other documentation related to operations. 
  • Must participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities. 
  • Meet and maintain all safety requirements. 
  • Use table saw for cutting materials. 
  • Operation of GMAW welding equipment in a moderate climate-controlled production environment 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal welding program or equivalent on the job experience 
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze blueprints and designs 
  • Must pass weld proficiency test 
  • Ability to get up and down and off workstations and move coils 
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of blueprint reading 
  • Ability to read engineering prints and weld symbols, as well as using basic measuring tools such as tape measures and levels 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties with no additional training required. 
  • Demonstrated reliability 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Experience welding in an industrial setting with ASME welding standard requirements 
  • Experience in fitment of complex and heavy parts prior to welding 
  • Prioritized experience in the following weld capabilities: Pulsed MIG Welding, MIG welding, Stick welding, TIG welding 
  • Welders with ability to join Steel to steel, steel to stainless, aluminum, and other materials
