Job Summary

This co-op term runs from January through August 2025 (spring semester plus summer) and will provide opportunities to experience advanced manufacturing engineering activities, techniques, and responsibilities in the areas of new product and process development, while also contributing to business goals. Positions will be located at either of our Trane Commercial manufacturing facilities in La Crosse, WI, and Pueblo, CO.

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete assignments related to the development and launching of new products and processes, both individually and as part of a team
  • Participate in creative thinking, team decision making, and problem solving in both office and factory floor environments
  • Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion within mutually agreed upon time frames
  • Find answers to manufacturing, technical or systems questions when requested by internal & external customers
  • Apply good oral and written communication skills to clearly communicate with internal and external personnel to request/provide information and relay data to others
  • Interact with multiple functional areas regarding manufacturing initiatives and projects to achieve premier customer service and overall business objectives
  • Support a professional field and customer-focused environment, with measurements in place to track performance and improve the process
  • Work in coordination with an experienced manager who will provide assignment guidance and direction

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing B.S. degree in engineering (Junior or Senior standing strongly preferred).
  • Must exhibit a solid professional image with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a diverse environment with multiple business goals while maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required, including strong presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to grasp technical engineering details to provide solutions for customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Working knowledge of drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD, Pro/Engineer, Creo, or Solidworks) preferred.
  • Positive attitude/demeanor and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter capable of setting and meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of HVAC products and systems, and a working knowledge of the construction and HVAC industry a plus.
