Where is the work:  

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. 

As an Associate Chemist, you will be part of a laboratory team responsible for testing, analyzing, discovering, and supporting projects related to Trane Technologies products and services. You will support laboratory activities focused on developing and implementing specialized refrigerant and lubricant capabilities. Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are crucial for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of specialized refrigerant and lubrication testing capabilities.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine lab tests to support projects within the Refrigerant System Chemistry area.
  • Work with senior staff to support non-routine tests and investigations using analytical equipment.
  • Acquire, analyze, and compile data; contribute to technical reports and communicate results within cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Prepare standards and samples and operate specialized analytical equipment using established methods.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for the chemistry team and lab functions.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize or troubleshoot procedures, processes, or equipment.
  • Promote good housekeeping, safety excellence, and chemical hygiene best practices.
  • Perform data analysis on test data to solve problems and ensure data quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in an analytical testing laboratory is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a laboratory environment with a focus on chemistry or materials science.
  • Experience working with and handling refrigerants and lubricants is preferred.
  • Familiarity with chemistry and materials testing techniques using destructive and non-destructive test methods such as HPLC, GC, ICP, GC-MS, and other instruments is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Ability to coach and counsel others without direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other commonly used software programs.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to use hands to operate a computer, and keyboard.
  • Frequently required to walk and sit; occasionally required to stand.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office and laboratory environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Safety shoes and safety glasses are required in the laboratory.

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $55,000 - $84,500  

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed.
