Job Summary: 
 
The Building Automation Data and Systems Specialist is a member of the Connected Services Team and serves as an expert in the field of Building Automation Systems. The primary focus of this role is to coach and mentor internal/external customers and facilitate specialized project management in the area of integrated control systems.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Capable of acting as a field and/or remote project manager
  • As an expert in the fulfillment of controls services, connected services, intelligent services, and all of the latest Trane controls capabilities, this person routinely leads important strategic projects, service solutions, and internal process improvement activities.
  • Acts as a coach and mentor to customers, field technicians, remote support specialists, helpdesk apprentices, and energy engineers.
  • Be the liaison between our field technicians and product managers when issues are escalated beyond standard Trane technical support. Utilize the ‘hot jobs’ process and develop strategic partnerships with Trane technical and product support leaders to expedite problem resolution. Maintain open communication between the field, remote support, and the customer.
  • Works both in the field and remotely to provide hands on training to internal and external customers. Promote the adoption of time saving tools and new product features that the field may not have had the time to learn and investigate.
  • Participate in field advisory councils working with product support on product planning, quality improvement, and developing the Trane controls tools and offerings of the future.
  • Qualify integration and non-Trane controls opportunities. Ensure we have the right people and tools necessary to meet and exceed customer expectations before the project is sold. Partner with contracting project manager on large projects and act as the field project manager on smaller/simpler projects.
  • Responsible for end to end testing, downloading programming, starting up, and commissioning on assigned projects.
  • Participates in QQTL for Connected Services Team
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participates in continuous improvement
  • Assists account managers in securing additional work and assuring work is done efficiently.
  • Stays current on HVAC and Controls industry developments and new technology including Niagara applications and products.
  • Assists with customer site surveys and provide sales support as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Strong understanding and operation of database management software (i.e. SQL, MS Access, MS Excel, etc.), networking (IP schemes including gateways, subnets, switches, etc, Bacnet including BBMD, BDT, and MSTP protocol), and security (VPNs, firewalls, cellular routers, etc).
  • Completion of Trane Data Driven Technician training, or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong Controls, HVAC, Energy and Trane product and application knowledge required.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills are required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be customer focused and willing to provide superior service to internal and external customers.
