Trane Technologies is currently seeking a Cybersecurity Architect –Operational Technology (OT), who plays a foundational role in shaping the architecture and security of our operational technology manufacturing systems. This position will directly contribute to Trane Technologies’ cybersecurity vision, strategy, and execution.
The Cybersecurity Architect – OT, leads and supports the development and governance of cybersecurity architectures in our manufacturing environment. The OT Security Architect is responsible for designing security solutions that protect the business while allowing it to execute, innovate and grow effectively.
The OT Security Architect will be a central point of contact for security matters related to operational technology and manufacturing security. This role involves close collaboration with various teams, including but not limited to security engineering, IT infrastructure, application development, security operations, and end users. This individual will also be a primary stakeholder working with our advanced manufacturing and automation teams to contribute to the continued automation of all our manufacturing plants globally.
The OT Security Architect reports to the Director of Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering and regularly interacts with the Chief Information Security Officer and other senior leaders across the organization.
The successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to partner with leaders across the business globally, identify opportunities/risks, and develop/deliver solutions that enable business strategies while aligning to the organization’s cybersecurity vision of the future.

Where is the work:
This is a Remote position.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain a complete understanding of Trane Technologies technology and information systems including our operational technology and process control systems.
- Align organizational security strategy and infrastructure with overall business and technology strategy.
- Design, build, and oversee implementation of enterprise-class security solutions across cloud based and on-prem environments.
- Lead the design and execution of secure and resilient OT solutions (e.g. network segmentation, zero trust, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, remote access, IAM, IDS and cloud security) ensuring alignment with business objectives, and industry best practices while developing innovative solutions.
- Applies a risk-based approach to all security engagements to appropriately design business enabling security solutions while aligning to our cybersecurity risk posture. As required performs or supervise risk analyses, governance development and security assessments.
- Collaborates and builds personal networks with stakeholders, including manufacturing, IT, engineering, and business units, to enable the integration of security requirements into the OT ecosystem.
- Communicate vital information, security needs and priorities effectively to senior management and team members at all levels across the business.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related IT technical field or equivalent experience, 10+ combined years related work experience.
- 7+ years in multiple IT disciplines including security with at least 3 years in OT Security.
- 3+ years’ experience with process control and manufacturing technologies.
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA, and Operational Technology environments (e.g. Rockwell).
- Expertise in cybersecurity principles and practices related to OT environments.
- Background and experience that spans multiple technology areas including but not limited to operational technology, infrastructure, engineering, applications development, cloud, or process control infrastructure.
- Experience with enterprise architecture, security architecture and working as part of a cross-functional team to implement solutions.
- Experience supporting global change management activities and understanding stakeholder engagement as it relates to technologies.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP (ISSAP, ISSEP), CISM, CISA a plus.
- A background in systems or network administration/engineering/architecture a plus.
- Ability to quickly understand and digest business requirements, architecture diagrams and technical product documentation to develop security guidelines and requirements.
- Experience writing accurate technical documentation such as standards, operating procedures, guides and knowledge articles.
- Familiarity with common regulatory and industry security requirements and frameworks ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices such as NIST and ICE 62443.
- The experience and technical expertise to guide the development of security infrastructure from scratch or update existing systems in response to ongoing changes in the security landscape, including new risks and adherence to applicable regulations.
Compensation:
Base Salary: $150,000 - $205,000
