Responsibilities:  

• Facilitate and deliver comprehensive EHS training sessions to plant personnel, utilizing a classroom-style format that incorporates multimedia elements such as PowerPoint presentations, informative videos, and comprehensive testing measures.

• Perform routine EHS safety inspections encompassing all aspects of the distribution center, including material handling equipment (MHE) and basic building systems, to ensure compliance with established safety protocols. Document any identified risks or hazards and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

• Collaborate with site and corporate EHS managers to review, coordinate, and implement standardized EHS procedures and best practices, as mandated by the Trane Technologies Business Operating System (BOS).

• Actively contribute to various safety-focused teams, such as the Safety Committee, Green Team, Emergency Response Team (ERT), First Aid Team, and Ergonomics Team, by participating in meetings, offering insights, and aiding in the development of safety-related initiatives.

• Create and deliver weekly safety lessons for shift start huddles or safety talks, aiming to improve safety awareness and promote adherence to established safety protocols among employees.

• Assume responsibility for the management of hazardous waste, including labeling, inspections, signing manifests, and coordinating proper disposal practices in accordance with regulatory requirements.

• Develop and oversee recycling programs and waste reduction/disposal initiatives to effectively manage waste materials and promote eco-friendly practices.

• Collect and accurately input metric and incident data into Trane Technologies' EHS database system, specifically Gensuite, ensuring the database consistently reflects up-to-date and precise information.

• Lead in-depth incident investigations, employing root cause analysis methodologies to identify underlying causes and subsequently implementing appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Assist in the formulation and maintenance of Job Safety Assessments (SA), collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify and address potential hazards, and establish practical control measures.

• Conduct regular health and safety audits to assess adherence to established safety standards, regulations, and policies, and identify areas for improvement. Prepare thorough audit reports and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

• Generate reports, utilizing a logical and concise format, to effectively communicate EHS metrics, incident data, and other relevant information to key stakeholders.

• Ensure the Method for Daily Improvement (MDI) board remains organized and up-to-date, reflecting current improvement initiatives and progress in accordance with established protocols.

• Perform additional assigned duties related to EHS responsibilities and requirements, as directed by the Manager.

 

 This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to work on and lead work teams to achieve company goals
  • Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within six months of the assuming EHS Tech position
  • Obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and AED within 6 months of obtaining EHS Tech position
  • Obtain License to operate Lift Truck within 6 months and operate equipment as needed
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that is able to build relationships with employees at all levels
  • Ability to lead teams to achieve site and company goals
  • High energy self-starter, results oriented, and able to work effectively with little supervision
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and Internet Explorer or equivalent for web based applications
  • Must be flexible and able to work all hours, including weekends and off shifts as required
