Field Service Representative - Trane Ireland Limited
Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician will serve as a crucial interface between customers, the service back office, and technicians. This role involves managing a high volume of orders and inquiries, coordinating multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities to ensure customer satisfaction. The technician will also ensure that health and safety procedures are consistently followed and that PPE is used where required.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervisory:
- Attend site visits with assigned technicians at least once every six months to assess their competency in technical procedures (e.g., methods used to carry out repairs/maintenance). Document any areas of concern or improvement and record them against the technician’s development plan.
- Function as a mentor for HVAC service technicians and apprentices, responsible for training and developing technicians to realize their full potential.
- Ensure technicians review their development plans and take necessary actions to achieve them. Raise any issues to the Operations Leader.
- Attend training courses as required on new products and procedures.
- Review warranty issues as they arise and input into company systems.
- Review daily paperwork from technicians to ensure it is timely, clearly written, and technically correct. Note any discrepancies for future discussion.
Health and Safety:
- Provide Risk Assessments/Method Statements as requested.
- Conduct calibration and audits within the required timescales.
- Ensure all sites are cleared after work is completed and paperwork completed timely.
Senior Technician:
- Lead large project works where multiple technicians are on site, ensuring the scope of works is carried out and paperwork is completed on time with the correct level of detail.
- Provide direct technical support to assigned technicians and maintenance customers.
- Carry out maintenance/repairs/call-outs as scheduled by the deployer.
- Set the standard for paperwork, timekeeping, and PPE usage.
Skills and Capabilities Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access to produce correspondence and documents, and to maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Highly customer-focused and proactive.
- Commercial acumen.
- Flexibility and pragmatism in respect of the demands of the role and the seasonal nature of the business.
- Strong technical bias towards problem-solving.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a technician in the HVAC business.
- Project Management qualification or experience.
- Excellent phone and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
