Role: Finance Controller
Location: Brussels (hybrid)
The Finance Controller has the responsibility for all finance activities, including but not limited to, management reporting, month end closing & reporting, coordinating sales & order forecasts, Annual Operating Plan, championing an environment of compliance, statutory and tax reporting/filing, and ad hoc finance projects. The role holder acts as a business partner to the Country Leader and advises –based on financial analysis- on opportunities and risks for the business.
- Responsible for day-to-day finance and accounts operations including the preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet and monthly reporting.
- Ensuring that the company’s financial practices adhere to the statutory regulations and legislation
- Support the Leadership Team to establish plans, assess performance and initiate corrective actions to ensure profitable growth of the business overall.
- Develop and maintain a strong compliance environment.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily finance activities (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Support the Leadership Team with analysis to support decision making
- Lead the Annual Operating Plan development, presentation and approval processes.
- Lead monthly/quarterly forecast process
- Deliver a timely month end close
- Adding value to finance team – working on ‘smarter’ methods to provide accurate and timely data, and to allow team to provide more analysis to the management team
- Develop and maintain internal control according to company policies and ensure country and corporate financial policy compliance on continuous basis
- Providing external and internal auditors with the necessary documentation and support
- Taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with internal / external tax accountants for tax preparation
- Preparing financial reports on a monthly and yearly basis
- Nurturing and maintaining good relationships with contractors, clients and other significant third parties
- Initiative in identifying and correcting weaknesses in the administrative processes.
- 5 years+ work experience (mix of finance controlling and accounting). Experience within US companies is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance from a four-year college or university. CMA, CPA, MBA all considered pluses
- Experience with change management and strong business acumen
- In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
- Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices
- Knowledge of Belgium GAAP and US GAAP
- Strong numerical skills, analytical thinking and careful structured approach
- Familiar in the use of ERP systems. Knowledge of Oracle is preferable.
- Very good knowledge of Excel
- Very good command of French & English
- SOX knowledge
- Understanding of tax codes and laws
