Trane is looking for an HVAC Technician Helper in the Montgomery, AL / Columbus, GA areas.  

 

In this role as a Technician Helper, you will coordinate with team members to deliver and help maintain HVAC equipment for scheduled and unscheduled commissioning and repairs.

Where the work is:

This position has been designated as Remote within a geography and work will be performed Montgomery, AL and Columbus, GA areas

 

What you’ll be doing: 

You will coordinate with team members to prepare and deliver equipment and materials to job sites across the Montgomery, AL area to Columbus, GA, under the supervision of an Area Service Manager, Team Leader, Resource Coordinator, and Service Technicians.

 

You will perform a range of tasks not limited to: 

  • May be required to use a variety of small hand tools to repair warehouse equipment or vehicles.
  • Maintains stock of inventory, company equipment and vehicles including shipping and receiving.
  • Maintains and organizes shop/warehouse and ensures MSDS compliance with all chemicals stored in shop/warehouse (keep records of chemicals that need pickup for waste disposal).
  • Operate forklift (forklift certification can be acquired on site)
  • Operating on a flatbed for deliveries requires a DOT certification (DOT certification can be acquired shortly after on-boarding but is a requirement)
  • Displays team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions. 

 

 

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in HVAC preferred.
  • Previous warehouse and power industrial vehicle experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience operating a forklift and/or flatbed
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e., Smartphone, iPad).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
    • DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • EPA Certification Preferred
  • Ability to work on-call rotation and/or overtime to support the business. 
  • DOT certification preferred (or the ability to obtain DOT certification after onboarding)

 

Base Pay Range:   $18-25 / Hourly 

*Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and the geographic location where the work is performed. 

 

Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure 

  • Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt.
  • Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties.
  • Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction.
  • Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands.
  • Must be able to reach your hands over your head.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours.
  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. (may occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs. with special approval.)
  • Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while wearing equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to maneuver access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal.
  • Must be able to access rooftops comfortably and routinely with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet +
  • This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location. 

 

This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.
