The Inventory Management Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for all inventory-related processes across the Residential HVAC Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet organizational goals. The successful candidate will perform in-depth analysis of operations inventory control and flow processes, lead improvement projects, coach sites to BOS standards, and establish professional relationships with warehouse and factory personnel, as well as District Warehouse Managers and Regional Distribution Managers. This position requires strong project management skills, lean management expertise, and the ability to train and coach team members on problem-solving behaviors and Lean principles.

Where is the work: 

Hybrid: Davidson, NC

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

 

What you will do:   

  • Act as the first point of contact for all inventory process-related issues across the SBU.
  • Coach 9 Steps, A3s, and JDIs across the SBU to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of operations inventory to provide tactical and strategic direction.
  • Drive inventory control and flow process improvements through cross-functional projects.
  • Utilize project management skills to implement lean management efforts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, materials, and manufacturing teams.
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules, timelines, and critical path analyses.
  • Continuously develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures.
  • Review existing and new procedures/controls to identify waste and organize teams to implement changes.
  • Train and coach line leaders or office staff on problem-solving behaviors and Lean principles.
  • Serve as an advisor and positive influencer of change within the organization.

 

What you will bring: 

  • Inventory Management: Proven experience in managing inventory control and flow processes and driving material warehouse improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience collaborating with various departments such as engineering, procurement, materials, and manufacturing.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to track progress and identify potential risks.
  • Lean Principles: Knowledge and application of Lean principles including flow, on-demand, zero defects, standardized work, and visual management.
  • Policy Development: Experience in developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify waste and build plans to address it.
  • Professional Relationships: Ability to establish and maintain professional and courteous relationships with warehouse and factory personnel, District Warehouse Managers, and Regional Distribution Managers.
  • Education: A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a related field.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to perform in-depth analysis of inventory data to provide tactical and strategic direction.
  • Project Management: Skilled in creating and maintaining detailed project schedules, timelines, and critical path analyses.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience in leading 9 Steps, A3s, and JDIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, materials, and manufacturing.
  • Lean Management: Proficiency in implementing lean management efforts to increase velocity and align inventory processes to BOS standards.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  • Training and Coaching: Ability to train and coach line leaders or office staff on problem-solving behaviors and Lean principles (MDI, A3s, etc.)
  • Change Management: Viewed as an advisor who can energize and motivate inclusive teams and positively influence change.

 

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $$60,000 - $90,000  

 

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
