Where is the work:
This is a Virtual/Remote position.
What you will do:
- Set engineering requirements for workflows, calculations, outcomes and performance of energy modeling and simulation engines to support various energy systems, including HVAC, renewable energy sources, and energy storage systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and domain experts, to gather requirements and ensure the accuracy and reliability of the models.
- Implement and validate mathematical models and algorithms for energy system simulations, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Work outside of typical workflows to expedite new systems integration and engineering quality enhancements.
- Act as an engineering subject matter expert for HVAC systems modeling and special assignments.
- Develop engineering tests and coordinate the technical testing effort of the calculation engine.
- Train internal and external customers on new or yet-to-be-released features.
- Identify bottlenecks, bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these issues.
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the calculation engine.
- Develop Engineering Quality Assurance processes based on industry best practices.
- Work with and coordinate between geographically distributed team members, users, and customers.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge.
- Communicate with business users at all levels of the organization.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in new product development, contract engineering or building simulation development is required.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of and experience working with Energy Plus is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to express concepts and ideas with clarity.
- Familiarity with BIM tools (e.g., Revit).
- Expert knowledge of HVAC products and systems.
- Understanding of applied mathematics and numerical modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of software limitations and capabilities related to technologies and design approaches used in real buildings.
- Experience with Agile practices is desired.
- Strong background in productivity, workflow management and collaboration tools.
- Project management, time management, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivation, willingness to take initiative, and the ability to function effectively both independently and in team-based situations.
- Sound knowledge of Test and Defect Management tools like ALM and Jira.
- Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite and other Windows programs.
- Knowledge of the commercial building construction industry is a plus.
Compensation:
Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $140,000 annually.
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed.
