Manufacturing Engineering
Job Summary:
Manufacturing Engineer Tech. in a manufacturing operation to develop, improve, and implement processes and programs that support the continuing improvement of quality and operational efficiencies while reducing the overall cost structure.
Responsibilities:
· Use of Auto CAD software for Floor Layout
· Reviews plant layouts and updates drawings accordingly with Auto CAD Software
· Support commissioning of new equipment into production by creating factory layouts, process maps, capability studies, equipment work instructions, and conducts training.
· Trouble shoot mechanical and electrical failures and is the 1st point of contact for line stoppage.
· Assists Manufacturing Engineering team with researching and specifying options for equipment.
· Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality to resolve production issues.
· Works as part of SCRUM team to initiate labor and material saving ideation, business case creation, and implementation.
· Implements product changes and process changes on the production floor related to risk elimination, cost improvement projects, production demand, workstation design, material presentation, etc.
· Works as part of the NPD (new product development) team in the introduction of new products and processes.
· Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices on safety and ergonomic improvements.
· Reviews product Bill of Materials (BOMs) and updates accordingly.
· Manages and Supports assembly process and BOMs software implementation (PODs, Q@S, Apriso)
· Evaluates production capacities through time studies and estimates.
· General duties to work with the operations team driving root cause and corrective actions for issues pertaining to safety, quality, customer delivery and driving the implementation.
· Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Lead and facilitate Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs) and 9-Step Problem Solving ownership
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Mechanical Engineering Tech Degree preferred.
· 1 to 2 years’ experience accepted as alternative
· Must have strong computer skills including MS Office with advanced Excel and PowerPoint
· 1 - 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Ability to approach a problem or situation that has not been previously encountered, gather information, make assessments, devise a number of options, recommend and implement the best option to deal with the issue.
· Strong analytical ability to solve issues such as: manufacturing problems and dimensional or calculation errors.
· Solid understanding of plant machining processes and overall business operations.
· Excellent communication and people skills.
· Ability to communicate at all levels of management.
· 1 – 2 years experience with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and ability to create standard work.
