Material Handler I
Position Description
-
The Material Handler under general supervision, distributes either production or non - production items and materials to various locations throughout the plant. Materials may consist of purchased parts, in process parts, or finished goods.

This position is expected to perform a variety of tasks as assigned in conjunction with the needs of the Materials and production or other departments.

Tasks will vary by work area and work assignments will change based on business demands, routine Job rotations will be required to support the Safety, Quality and Productivity Objectives

The position is expected to perform the specified job duties within the allotted time, within the quality standards and prescribed methods.
Essential Job Functions
-
Responsible for receiving, staging, shipping HVAC equipment and materials
-
Receive equipment/product and properly offload and prepare for staging using gantry system or hilo as appropriate
-
Check for visible damage and defects and take appropriate steps to record if damage is found
-
Attention to detail, properly labelling equipment
-
Prepare equipment for shipment ensuring safe transport

Complete outbound paperwork with driver and take pictures
-
Maintain unit location map for both east and west ends of the facility for all activities listed above

Maintains the required paperwork and documentation of all parts and materials moved in accordance with the specified procedures.

Responsible for supporting the manufacturing process by receiving and transporting components to the manufacturing floor in accordance with predetermined safety, quality, method and sequence standards.

Follow and adhere to all safety, quality and Trane Technologies policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned or required including;
-
Actively contributing to Safety, Quality and Productivity activities and improvements

Maintaining the work area for cleanliness, Orderliness and efficiency Standards

Rotate job duties, areas and Stations as needed for Safety, Quality and Productivity.

Enter Data in computer systems, fill in forms, charts etc.

Comfortable to work independently and as a Team member to identify, improve, troubleshoot and take ownership for results of the machine or process the operator is responsible
Education, Experience & Skills
-
High school diploma or General Equivalent Degree (GED) required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Previous warehouse experience is a plus
-
Ability to obtain forklift certification
-
6mon-1year forklift experience
-
Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
-
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
-
Ability to work with others collaboratively.

Willingness to change, flex and learn

Computer Skills (Filling in Forms, logging in, navigating websites, etc.)

Basic math skills (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Measure, use a calculator,)

Physical Requirements

Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal company and external associates, both written and orally, including the telephone. Mobility within the work facility.
