Where is the work:  

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.  

  

What you will do:    

 Trane Technologies is seeking a visionary Director of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to lead the global adoption and implementation of MBSE methodologies across the organization. This role will drive innovation, enhance system-level design processes, and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals for digital transformation and sustainability. The MBSE Leader will collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide to establish a unified approach to systems engineering, leveraging cutting-edge tools and practices to deliver exceptional value to customers and stakeholders.

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to define and implement a global MBSE strategy that aligns with organizational goals and drives digital transformation.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in MBSE tools and methodologies, including SysML, UML, and digital twin concepts.  Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and system architecture design.
  • Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to lead cross-functional global teams and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders and across regions.
  • Change Management: Expertise in leading organization change resulting in high adoption, including stakeholder alignment, training, communications and overcoming resistance to new methodologies.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and build consensus across global teams.
  • Develop standard work and business operating procedures related to Model based systems engineering and deployment
  • Innovation & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and creative thinking skills to identify opportunities for improvement and drive innovation.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Industry 4.0, digital thread, and sustainability trends, with a focus on their application in systems engineering.
  • Global Strategy Development: Define and execute a comprehensive MBSE strategy aligned with Trane Technologies’ business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Leadership & Alignment: Drive global alignment on MBSE practices, fostering collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, IT, and business units.
  • Standards & Frameworks: Establish and enforce MBSE standards, methodologies, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Technology Enablement: Lead the selection, deployment, and integration of MBSE tools, such as SysML-based modeling platforms, into the company’s digital ecosystem.
  •  Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global teams to integrate MBSE into product lifecycle management (PLM), digital thread initiatives, and system-level design processes.
  • Training & Change Management: Develop and deliver training programs to build MBSE expertise across the organization, addressing resistance and promoting adoption.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, identifying opportunities to enhance MBSE practices and drive innovation.
  • Metrics & Performance Tracking: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of MBSE on product development efficiency, quality, and sustainability

What you will bring:  

 

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field; Advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, MBSE, or related roles
  • Strong understanding and experience applying system engineering principles
  • Proven track record of leading global initiatives and driving organizational change.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
  • Knowledge of industry trends: familiarity with Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Digital Twin and Digital Thread
  • Exceptional communication and influencing capabilities, able to successfully implement organizational change.

 

Compensation:    

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
