As a Mechanical Engineer, you have the responsibility for designing and managing the complex engineering systems within the Air-Cooled Oil-Free Magnetic Bearing Chillers product line.  You will work closely with other teams, such as Project Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Management to create competitive designs.  The selected individual must have the technical expertise to support product design projects, product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality & reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering and stage gate Project Development Process practices.

Where is the work:

This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days on-site per week) based out of our Trane La Crosse campus.


What you will do: 

  • Meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, understanding and prioritizing customer requirements.
  • Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge appropriateness of product to various applications.
  • Support factory and field problem resolution.
  • Participate on project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications.
  • Understanding and familiarity of drafting practices, methods and processes, including GD&T, welding, sheet metal, castings, machining and dimension and tolerance analysis.
  • Conduct design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.
  • Deliver technical designs to meet project and product requirements. 
  • Both domestic and international travel may be required.  Estimated travel is 10%.


What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • At least 3+ years of work experience in engineering and/or product design is required.


Compensation: 

Annual Salary Range:  $70,000 - $123,000
