Join Trane Commercial as a Product Development Engineer! As a Product Development Engineer, you will be a key member of a high performing team of product development engineers and designers for the Commercial Unitary Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) Products. In this role, you will be responsible for designing the equipment and systems that meet our customers’ requirements. You will contribute to developing concepts for new & improved commercial HVAC products, and solve complex technical problems leading to production of sustainable new products. This role works closely with other departments in engineering, manufacturing, marketing, service, and sourcing to create integrated and optimized designs and support ongoing business activities.

This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite a week) and will be based out of our Clarksville, TN location.

Responsibilities

  • Develop HVAC refrigeration and airflow systems to meet performance, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements.
  • Review and understand the technical feasibility of product and internal requirements. Design and select robust and cost-effective components and develop engineering specifications.
  • Understand and apply applicable regulatory codes such as UL.
  • Complete system integration tasks including:  engineering design, engineering specifications, support creation of layouts, and design reviews.
  • Develop laboratory test plans and analyze test data to ensure product performance and quality.
  • Support the creation of the documentation package to ensure documentation reflects the design intent and that all required documents are completed on time and to the satisfaction of the internal customers.
  • Demonstrate product reliability by working closely with reliability engineers, supplier quality engineers and laboratory technicians.
  • Participate in product improvement activities to identify opportunities to improve product performance and reduce cost.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent discipline) is required.
  • Can-do attitude, servant leadership, and a relentless growth mindset.

Annual Base Pay Range:  $54,000 - 76,800
