This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule operating out of branch office 3 days a week, with 2 days working remotely. Candidate must be located within reasonable commuting distance to 4500 Morris Field Drive in Charlotte. 


Job Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Applications Engineer for Rental Services will serve as a contact for internal and external customers seeking Applications and Technical Support for the use of Rental HVAC, Process Cooling, and Power equipment in temporary systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical sales playbooks to expand market share in process cooling applications and vertical markets through thorough research.
  • Offer pre-sales support to the Dedicated Rental Sales (DRS) team and end-users to implement rental equipment and solutions effectively.
  • Compile technical sales documentation to drive growth in process cooling applications and vertical markets.
  • Assist the DRS team in formulating proposals for rental equipment solutions tailored to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Collaborate on creating Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluating vendor submissions, and contributing to designing and validating new equipment purchases and modifications.
  • Manage technical projects related to rental fleet enhancements and customer site applications to advance business goals.
  • Maintain technical literature supporting rental product lines and generate new technical documentation for rental products.
  • Create equipment configuration and layout standards to aid the DRS team's operations.
  • Deliver technical training to Trane Rental Services and Sales teams on new products and applications.
  • Engage in Rapid Improvement Events by providing process guidance and information to Operational Excellence (OpEx) teams.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in the HVAC industry. Rental Services industry is a plus. 
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred / Professional Engineering (PE) is a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC equipment and systems operation, heat transfer, and fundamental HVAC system design best practices
  • Experience specifying HVAC equipment, creating 3D models and layout of HVAC systems
  • Experience creating plans, P&ID, control systems, electrical schematics, engineering specifications, technical literature, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office Suite, CAD (2D & 3D)
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000 /year
