Job Summary:

The Senior Material Planner is an active leader in planning and scheduling the delivery of material from suppliers. This strategic and tactical position is responsible to monitor the flow of materials to avoid shortages and production downtime, as well as to develop and execute strategic initiatives that focus on customer service and material planning improvements. The role drives development and provides day-to-day coaching of members of the material planning team, and will be a key leader in determining the optimal organization structure for material planning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic improvements to ABC classification, PFEP process and other key systems.
  • Manage material planning shortages, flag root causes, and drive corrective actions for containment.
  • Productivity: identify and implement cost reduction/productivity projects to meet the corporate initiatives/goals. Maintain pipeline and financial records for reporting and tracking productivity.
  • Identify material planning opportunities to improve efficiencies (i.e. standard work, processes, systems, training).
  • Responsible for developing training modules and common processes to be leveraged across all new and existing suppliers.
  • Maintain and continuously evaluate supplier performance and escalate to Procurement when issues occur.
  • Lead and partner with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.
  • Partner with master scheduling leader to bridge master schedule to MRP gaps.
  • Serve as first level escalation for production planners for solutions when parts cannot be delivered as promised.
  • Lead and direct others to accomplish desired organizational objectives.
  • Manage internal and SOMI/VMI material and parameters to meet schedules.
  • Perform timely, cost-conscious procurement of production/inventory/MRO items.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and drive improvements in order to optimize inventory levels and safety stock.
  • Analyze ABC classification data and develop replenishment strategy.
  • Perform audits on item master information to ensure planning parameters are accurate.
  • Expedite deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for their parts.
  • Maintain proactive shortage identification and management.
  • Communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to supplier.
  • Review open requirements, monitoring vendor performance and expediting where necessary.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and accounting.

Qualifications:

  • APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of industry related supply base.
  • Skilled in production and supplier scheduling.
  • Knowledgeable of supplier processes and capabilities.
  • Able to provide direction, coaching and training to material planners and peers as needed.
  • Computer proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Experience with rate based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems.
  • Bachelor Degree required.

Base Pay Range (for Colorado Residents):$49000 - $102000
