In this role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will work to research, design, validate and maintain products for the Thermo King North America Trailer business.  The position will collaborate cross-functionally across multiple regions, and have frequent interaction with our global manufacturing facilities, dealerships, and customers. You will be responsible for delivering major New Product Development programs that meet specific performance and Quality/Cost/Delivery goals.  You will also work to deliver Quality, Sustaining and Productivity engineering projects by teaming with other functions, including Product Management, Procurement, Manufacturing and Field Service.

Where is the work:  

From Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues in Minneapolis, MN. On Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires  

 

What you will do: 

  • Lead the design, development and validation of mechanical systems, assemblies and components.

  • Generate, evaluate, analyze, and document design concepts for components and assemblies to meet new product requirements.

  • Deliver design documentation by Releasing and/or revising 3D models, drawings, BOMs and product lifecycle data within the CAD and PLM system.  PTC Creo, PTC Windchill and Siemens Teamcenter experience are a plus.

  • Coordinate and collaborate cross functionally with Chief Engineering, SMEs, and other engineering functions to develop technical management plans for technical risks.

  • Ensure all engineering activities adhere to our product development processes.  Including but not limited to:

    • Requirements definition

    • DFMEA and DVP&R development and management

    • Test Plan creation

    • Test Plan Execution and Documentation

    • Design Review Preparation and Presentation

    • Project Implementation

  • Frequent collaboration with Internal Test Lab, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Quality, Procurement, Service, Finance, and key suppliers is expected to meet project deliverables.

 

 

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 years of experience in mechanical design engineering or product development is required.

  • Proficiency in mechanical design, calculation and verification methods.  Experience with refrigeration systems, coils, compressors, valves, harnessing, structural weldments, engines, and power transmission systems are a plus.

  • Proficiency in part design for formed sheet metal, stampings, machining, weldments, castings, injection molded parts is expected.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles, processes and design for assembly is expected.  Experience with automated or robotic assembly is a plus.

  • Quality system knowledge and understanding is expected.  Experience using SPC or PPAP process is a plus.

  • Significant experience using 3D modeling software is expected.  PTC Creo will be used and proficiency is preferred.

 

 

Compensation:   

Annual Pay Range:  $100,000 – 138,000
