Where is the work:  
This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite a week) and will be based out of our Clarksville, TN location. 

What you will do:   

This Senior Product Engineer has complete responsibility for engineering and design activities; this key position will be responsible for new product development (NPD), sustaining engineering, as well as VA/VE projects as part of the Trane Commercial engineering team.

 

·       Leads new product development projects in a manufacturing environment on-time; meeting agreed to requirements for performance, cost, and reliability.

·       Works on development projects in cross-functional teams as subsystem lead, engineering lead, and/or project leader.

·       Manages multiple projects including schedule and goal management, as assigned.

·       Plans, conducts, and coordinates engineering assignments (typically involving major projects).

·       Evaluates complex, special, and advanced engineering tasks.

·       Works independently with minimal supervision and serves as the subject-matter-expert on capabilities to improve existing products and processes.

·       Provides periodic technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on a common projects.

·       Support implementation of product development processes and champion improvements.

·       Plans and supervises assignments as well as identifying appropriate personnel to support key activities and deliverables.

·       Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.

·       Operates with substantial latitude in general decision-making process.

·       Some overnight travel will be required, approximately 15%.

 

What you will bring: 

·       Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 years of product development experience in the HVAC, or similar, industry is required.

·       Masters in Engineering is a plus.

Key Competencies:

·       Strong knowledge and experiences with refrigeration/air conditioning/comparable designs.

·       Product Design & Testing Expertise.

·       Strong foundation of the following subsystems: Cabinets/Structures, Airflow, Heat, and Gas, or similar.

·       Ability to drive team productivity when needed and yet maintain a proper work-life balance.

·       Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

·       Organizational courage to raise issues and provide solutions to problems.

·       Proven experience leading cross-functional and global teams.

·       Ability to meet with global virtual teams outside of core business hours, as needed.

·       Product application knowledge.

·       Familiarity with UL, AHRI, ASHRAE and DOE requirements.

·       Project Management a plus.

·       Expert use of Analytical and CAD software a plus

 

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $80,000 - $115,000

 

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
