Summary
Responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the shipping department to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. Prepares the logistics and schedules for shipping to control flow of goods. Leads inventory team and provides guidance for conducting daily inventory analysis in order to solve inventory discrepancies. Develops and implements inventory control procedures. Coordinates and manages daily physical cycle counts. Trains and manages the inventory team to include the team responsible for building equipment used in material flow and material transfer.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Recommends improvements to reduce cost and drive productivity within the department while achieving site specific goals.
  • Supervises all phases of shipping, logistics and inventory operations.
  • Monitor and oversee both inbound and outbound shipping activities, costs and productivity.
  • Expedite priorities and  shipping methods that are needed to meet schedules
  • Support cycle count standard work goals with the long term objective of achieving cycle count certification.
  • Maintain and issue inventory reporting, including inventory accuracy and cycle count metrics.
  • Implement and enforce standard work across the functions.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in assigned areas.
  • Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management.
  • Organize activities & assigning jobs accordingly to the staff requirements. 
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Motivate staff to make an effective and efficient team.
  • Shipping documentation such as shipping notices, orders lines, invoices, bill of lading
  • Monitor and oversee outbound activities to ensure the units and parts are shipped in good condition
  • Works on a daily basis with employees concerns and resolves problems to achieve company goals and to maintain a healthy work environment.
  • Develops and perform data analysis, and participates in periodic meetings as required.
  • Assesses all day-to-day activities to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and comply with assigned metrics.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Maintain the work area clean and organized.
  • Support lean initiatives (5s, RIE’s, SQDIP, MDI, 9 step).
  • Comply and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including EHS and ISO requirements.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in materials.
  3. Computer knowledge (MS Office).
  4. Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  5. Knowledge of inventory management, logistics, MRP and lean manufacturing.
  6. Negotiation and presentation skills.
  7. Customer service oriented.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
