Job Summary:

Trane Technologies is hiring a Site Quality Leader in Grand Rapids, MI.  In this role, you will be responsible for leading a Multi-functional Team to drive Quality strategies between multiple Grand Rapids Commercial HVAC locations to meet business goals and alignment to bring Trane’s products to new levels of quality, reliability, and value. This leader will bridge Quality Management Systems with advanced manufacturing to promote continuous improvements, operations efficiency,  and successful APQP launch of new products.  The candidate must be highly motivated and be able to lead a team of employees in the development and implementation of new processes, tools, and procedures that meet Trane’s safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

Where is the work:
On-Site (5 days). The company has designated this role as safety sensitive.

What you be Responsible for: 

  • Focus management on the appropriate metrics and actions based on those metrics across the organization, assuring effective tracking of operational performance. Report on quality metrics from the plant perspective, analyze (key organizational) quality metrics, and perform periodical reviews to evaluate results and establish action plans to close the gaps
  • Lead and continuously develop through recruitment, training and mentorship, the skills and leadership ability of both salaried and hourly members of the Quality Team
  • Develop with peers and communicate core messaging about quality improvement efforts and the changing culture that is occurring across all aspects of our business to improve the customer experience and overall quality culture.
  • Responsible for driving product quality improvements with ownership of the Cost of Quality to help eliminate waste and meet organizational goals.
  • Responsible for driving improvements to equipment, tools, technologies and other factors impacting production capability and capacity.
  • Supports ISO and other company standard practices and procedures such as the Quality Management System (QMS) and Business Operating System (BOS) via Leader Standard Work.
  • Provide training and development in problem solving methods, Design of Experiments (DoE), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
  • Responsible for Non-Conformance Material Reviews; lead team in developing and coordinating rework of materials while minimizing cost to company.
  • Evaluate field and internal failures with the Product Quality Team and aid in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Supervises tooling activities, including design, order, maintenance, gages; and fulfill customer requirements relating to engineering or processing, i.e. FMEA, flow charting, and problem solving.

 

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Seven years (7+) years of experience in manufacturing engineering and quality management required.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mentor, team player including professional customer and supplier interaction capability
  • Ability to influence and motivate associates and to interact with various departments throughout the organization
  • Team oriented proactive change agent with a hands-on, collaborative approach in implementing and maintaining operating disciplines while leveraging lean methodologies
  • Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control points
  • Project management and planning tools, measuring and monitoring of project activities and project documentation. Proficiency in information technology systems utilized in Quality Management Systems and process
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and in-depth knowledge, understanding and application of APQP tools, to include process flows, process FMEAs and control plans, to meet Quality and Reliability requirements and targets.
  • Experience in engineering systems to include CAD, PLM and MES systems. Ability to contribute in design reviews and assist during validation and qualification, to include safety and ergonomics.
  • Experience with lean principles and techniques to include Visual Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Cycle Time Reduction and Process Balancing, 5S, Set Up Reduction (SMED), and Kanban.


Compensation:   
Base Pay Range: $140,000 - $185,000. This role is bonus eligible.
