This position will focus on opportunities that are both strategic and tactical in nature. In this position, the superintendent will set the yearly strategy for breakthrough performance of the focus area, while also developing and executing the daily management system. Another key aspect of this role is the development of the hourly and salary team that reports to this position. Reports directly to Fabrication Focused Factory Manager.
• Ensure safe working environment through application of site tools and resources.
• Ensure quality products by proactively addressing all quality issues.
• Meet required schedule output for area of responsibility.
• Operate within budget requirements.
• Participate in Goal Deployment Process to develop yearly strategies for focus area that will drive results linked to the site SQDIP targets.
• Lead problem solving activities for focus area for metrics that are missing targets
• Talent management for salaried direct reports – including long term people development plans
• Develop, Implement and sustain daily management systems
• Utilize Operational Excellence principles to run assigned area of operation
• Administer plant work rules and policies including the progressive disciplinary process, employee handbook, and collective bargaining agreement.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree. High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years progressive manufacturing experience.
• Experience in a union environment preferred
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and application of site level work rules and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing techniques to analyze and develop improvement plans that drive higher performance of operational metrics
• Demonstrated proficiency in leading a cross functional team to implement tactical and strategic solutions of focus area.
• Ability to develop the skills and competencies of the salary and hourly reports
