Team Lead -Shipping/Receving

Position Description
- The Materials Clerk Lead role is responsible for ensuring the team is follow the policy, procedures, and work instructions to ensure timeliness and efficiency of the day-to-day shipping and receiving tasks.
- The Materials Clerk Lead provides effective training to the team and ensures safety and quality standards are always maintained.
- He/ She will ensure they are maintaining their own shipping and receiving tasks.
Essential Job Functions
- Acts as an extension to Management in their respective department.
- First point of contract for all Material Handling issues, escalates when necessary.
- Assumes additional leadership role whenever the department supervisor or manager is out.
- Ensures department is run effectively in all areas, Shipping & Receiving, Material control, and Deliveries.
- Adheres to all Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities, including participation in accident investigations.
- Works with continuous improvement group to facilitate improvements and streamline processes.
- Ensures department is run effectively with priority on safety, quality and production.
- Works to consistently meet and exceed customer requirements.
- Continuously strives for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensures all employees have tools and supplies needed to perform the jobs in their areas.
- Troubleshoots machine, process, product, and people issues.
- Assumes responsibility for the Housekeeping in the area (Assign 5S & Housekeeping duties as needed).
- Ensures that Daily Performance Metrics are communicated and met.
- Participates and leads MDI board meetings and activities.
Education, Experience & Skills
- High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) is required.
- Associate degree is preferred.
- One (1) year in manufacturing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated change management skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to complete courses in leadership skills and other related courses (i.e. Lean Training, Problem Solving, 5S, 5 – Why’s, and other as determined by Department Manager).

Physical Requirements
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal company and external associates, both written and orally, including the telephone. Mobility within the work facility.
