As a Tech Lead – Product Engineering for our Unitary HVAC platforms, you will drive the development of innovative solutions through New Product Development, VAVE, and technology projects. Collaborating with global teams, you’ll guide concept development, design, and system integration to meet market needs and regulatory standards. You’ll lead project execution, mentor team members, and champion process improvements, leveraging your engineering expertise to deliver high-quality results. Where is the work:

Hybrid: This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

What will you do:

In this role you will: 

  • Lead and deliver technically complex New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and New Technology Projects (NTP) & Quality & Reliability projects for Unitary HVAC platforms, with a focus on Airflow and Refrigeration subsystems.
  • Collaborate with global project owners, leaders, and cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers—to ensure exceptional project execution adhering to company processes, and project management principles.
  • Ensure achievement of project milestones/deliverables within committed Quality (Q), Delivery (D), Project cost (C), and Product cost (C) targets.
  • Steer concept development, design calculations and selection of HVAC components and system integration aligned to market needs, regulatory standards (DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL), and sustainability goals.
  • Drive creation and release of engineering documentation using PLM/PDM tools including designs, drawings, bill of materials, and specifications.
  • Perform DFMEA, develop and execute test plans, lead failure mode analysis, and drive engineering builds/testing.
  • Use data analytics and visualization (e.g., Tableau) for project management reporting and decision making.
  • Develop supplier qualification plans, support sourcing programs, and drive business continuity initiatives.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members, fostering effective teamwork, inclusion, and innovation.
  • Contribute to process improvement and publish/present technical papers as needed.

What you will bring:

  • Master’s degree in R&AC, Thermal Sciences/related specialization.
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in HVAC product/system design and development, including component selection, system integration, concept development, and design in New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and New Technology Projects (NTP) & Quality & Reliability projects
  • Experience in working with MBSE and MBE environment for project execution workflows is preferred.
  • Proven track record of innovation projects, Proof of Concept projects, patent grant and technical publications are preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of thermal engineering, thermodynamic cycles, refrigerants, airflow systems, and related standards (DOE, ASHRAE 90.1, AHRI 340/360, AHRI 1340, ASHRAE 37, UL 60335-2-40).
  • Demonstrated success in leading end-to-end NPD projects, VAVE, Q&R, supplier qualification, and sustainability driven initiatives.
  • Fluent in DFMEA, test plan development, prototype/engineering builds, root cause analysis, and mitigating technical risks.
  • Strong proficiency with project management and PLM/PDM systems.
  • Skilled in data analysis and visualization (Tableau or similar) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, fresh air systems, and basic principles of material selection for application requirements.
  • Track record of coaching or mentoring teams; leadership and inclusion mindset with a passion for process improvement and innovative problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to present technical concepts and results clearly and concisely.
