Job Summary

The Trane Design Assist Project Manager is responsible for Trane Commercial Sales office engagement, user acceptance, training, communication, content creation/updates, and documentation for Trane® Design Assist. Trane Design Assist provides Trane’s sales force and controls engineering staff with tools to create customer influence documents, create controls submittals, and transfer engineered content to field applications. The application is a critical component of the Trane Building and Energy Services strategy to profitably grow Controls Market Share, achieve Lowest Installed Cost and drive Standard Work.  This position coordinates cross-functional project teams to consistently meet aggressive customer commitments, including but not limited to content creation, standardization, reporting, modularization, quality control, maintenance and improvement.

Where is the work: This is a Remote position.


Responsibilities: 

  • Consistently deliver new and updated functionality and content to the business on time, on scope, and on budget. Including but not limited to content creation, software enhancements, business application development, process documentation, business intelligence reporting, analytics and new product support and training.
  • Develop and deliver training content for centralized, regional, and local Trane Commercial Sales Offices, as well as support established training programs.
  • Confidently present training in front of large and small groups, both in person and remotely.
  • Engage with Trane educational and training initiatives to provide subject matter expertise on Trane ® Design Assist, advocate for appropriate inclusion in established programs, and ensure course objectives are achieved.  Partners include, but are not limited to the Trane University and the Graduate Training Program (GTP).
  • Coordinate alignment of controls content with owners of multiple platforms including, but not limited to Trane Equipment, Tracer Products, Work Package, WorkSight, Configurator, Trane Select Assist and Automated Functional Tester.
  • Lead complex cross-functional teams with members from many disciplines and parts of the business, including but not limited to Energy Services & Controls, Applications Engineering, Product Management, Training, Marketing, Data Analytics, Documentation and Support.
  • Use Voice of the Customer (VOC), Business (VOB), Associates (VOA), and Strategy (VOS) to define business requirements, gain stakeholder buy-in, and prioritize the use of limited resources.
  • Maintain strong communications with Territory teams, District leadership, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage a travel schedule that includes regular pre-planned travel and some unplanned travel on short notice.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on Trane equipment, controls products, and other supported offerings.
  • Develop business cases and metrics needed to justify new investments, measure the results of ongoing programs, and ensure maximum support of the Energy Services & Controls business.
  • Manage ongoing program needs such as communications, support, user feedback, training, documentation, content creation, reporting and control plan execution.
  • Create process maps and narratives to communicate process workflow to development resources to achieve business needs.
  • Create and update complex business analysis workflows using Tableau and Alteryx.
  • Meet multiple overlapping short and long-term deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Provide informed input on internal budgeting, including forecasting, resource allocation, growth planning, and investment requests.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, regularly, dependably, and without conflicting responsibilities.
  • Thrive in a team environment and communicate effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, often requiring unscheduled deliverables with short notice.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HVAC, Engineering, Computer Science, Project Management or related discipline and at least 5 years of commercial HVAC controls industry experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
  • Detailed understanding of commercial HVAC controls project sales, estimating, engineering, project management, installation, programming, and commissioning processes is required.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio is required. Adobe Illustrator is preferred.

  • Understanding of business intelligence data gathering and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage opposing opinions and mitigate conflict.
  • Demonstrated good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $88,500 to $145,000

 

Total compensation for this role will include an incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
