This role is for a full-time staff member within the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) to provide support to the Chief Engineer for the Thermo King Americas business unit.  The role would support the Chief Engineer in furthering engineering excellence through process development, adherence and interpretation.  Further, the role would provide support for technology and regulatory assessment, planning and road-mapping.

Where is the work:  Hybrid: This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

 

What you will do:   

Develop and implement strategy for Engineering Excellence
Look after process rigor and adherence to NTP and NPD processes
Support independent design and technology reviews – provide feedback and approval guidance
Support gate reviews and provide insight to gate approvers
Collaborate with engineering departments within and across business units on Engineering Excellence tools including DFMEA (design failure mode and effects analysis), DVP&R (design verification planning and reporting), DFSS (design for supplier success), FRACAS (failure reporting and corrective action system) and other
Support development of Associate Chief Engineer cohort
Help chair and support the Thermo King Americas Regulatory Council
Help chair and support the Thermo King Americas Invention Review Board
Work with platform engineering and Product Growth Teams in long range planning and road-mapping sessions
Assist with monitoring and staying abreast of regulations around refrigerants, emissions, and electrification
Assist Coe teams with developing component and technology roadmaps, which closely align with platform roadmaps

 

What you will bring: 

 

Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related technical discipline) 

·      A strong technical aptitude and ability to advise on a broad range of technical topics related to design and development of industrial equipment, preferably in the HVACR industry.

·      Knowledge of fundamentals of heat transfer and thermodynamics.

·      Knowledge of controls, control algorithms, on-board diagnostics and telematics.

·      Familiarity with IP protection.

·      Experience developing design standards.

·      Experience with engineering excellence tools including DFMEA, FRACAS, DVP&R at a subject matter expertise level.

·      Experience with product lifecycle management tools and processes.

·      Rich experience with complex programs from inception to launch and into customer support.

·      Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across functions.

·      Strong cross-functional knowledge, including operations, product management, supply chain and testing.

·      Strong interpersonal communication skills.

·      Ability to effectively manage upwards, escalate issues and communicate at an executive level.

·      Strong desire to learn new skills and gain new knowledge.

·      Ability to strike a balance between quality, cost and delivery.

·      Knowledge of managing for daily improvement and Lean Six Sigma techniques including Gemba walks, Scrum, Obeya rooms, Kaizen, etc.

 

Compensation:   $ 91,000- $180,000

 

Total compensation for this role will include a incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
