Commodity Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is a key member of Rest of Asia Pacific (RoA) procurement team, responsible to establish, develop & deploy the supply strategy on those assigned categories in Bangkok plant, (Categories include but not limited to, Valves, Pumps and other categories related to New Product Development -NPD programs etc.) The ongoing supply management also aims to provide continues improvement with the year over year direct materials (DM) productivity, Cash flow; as well as secure the DM supply continuity in supporting factory operating smoothly.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Strategic Sourcing/Supply Base Development utilizing 7 Steps process – Supplier identification, evaluation, selection, performance management, supply base right-sizing, executive supplier interface management of single/sole source relationships.
- Contractual Development and Negotiation – Proven ability to execute the entire negotiation process for programs with high COGS. Set high standards and expectations. Effectively leverages all resources (time, information, buyer/seller position, communication/ memorandum drafting skill) to achieve outstanding results. Ability to maintain strong relationships and exert influence when needed.
- Program Management – Project leader for key cost reduction programs. Programs could include source changes, VAVE initiatives; Supplier relocations/process changes, etc.
- Support New Product Development phase/gate activities via communicating and documenting sourcing requirements including supplier selection, supply chain resiliency plans, cost considerations, supply agreements, tooling expenditures and lead-time, etc.
- Ensure the deployment of Preferred Supply Strategy by implementing the Early Sourcing Working Plan through the NPD project Gate processing; aligns to the global & regional category strategy.
- Coordinate and align with category management teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and aftermarket to complete project goals and expected tasks/deliverables within the project timeline.
- Direct Material Reporting – Proficient utilize Global procurement tools, eg. Myspend, My productivity; My suppliers; Risk assessment; PSL; SRM; CLM’s etc

- Candidates must have demonstrated experience in coordinating, facilitating dialogues, consultation and conflict resolution
- Demonstrate competence in negotiation skills and the ability assessing the supplier
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written with Mandarin and English, including presentation
- Ethics and Integrity: Demonstrate high personal integrity in conducting business with external/internal parties. Ensure compliance to the laws, business guidelines and code of conduct/ethical standards set by company as well as local and the U.S. governments
- Business Travel required – 10% up to 30%
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations related; relevant qualified certification desired, CPM/CPSM/CIPS or PMP etc.
- 5+ years’ experience in procurement, managing ~ $50+ Million DM spend w/a category leads role plus,
- Proficient knowledge of supplier mgmt. (supplier selection/approval; contingency planning; industry trends; short and long term strategy development) given higher consideration
- Proven track record in developing and managing key/strategic supplier relationships across regions; resulting in improved scorecard, Proven cost management/ program management record
- Good record of work experience in relevant industry; Eg. HVAC&R / Automotive industry
- Lean/Six Sigma Belt experience a plus
