Join Trane Technologies as a Controls Engineer in Newberry. Trane is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and testing sequences of operations for HVAC chillers, including both new and existing products. This role requires proficiency in or a strong ability to learn Allen Bradley, Carel, and Symbio PLCs. The Controls Engineer will conduct system testing, commissioning, and calibration of chiller systems, ensuring compliance with AHRI 551/591 testing standards.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as On-Site.


 

What you will do:

·       Design, program, and test sequences of operations for HVAC chillers, including new and existing products.

·       Learn and utilize Allen Bradley, Carel, and Symbio PLCs for system control and automation.

·       Conduct system testing, commissioning, and calibration of chiller systems to ensure optimal performance.

·       Collaborate closely with the Service team to provide technical support and troubleshoot issues.

·       Ensure compliance with AHRI 551/591 testing standards during all phases of system development and testing.

·       Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, control schematics, and software programs.

·       Provide training and support to other team members and end-users on control systems and software.

·       Stay updated with the latest advancements in control systems and HVAC technologies.

·       Understand and implement Direct Digital Control (DDC) and Building Automation Systems (BAS), with a focus on BACNet, Modbus, and Lonworks protocols.

·       Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.


 

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent major)
  • Experience and understanding of automation, controls, data acquisition, and instrumentation hardware and software
  • Design or application experience, thermodynamics, heat transfer, controls, electrical power and compressor technology (HVAC preferred)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal company and external associates, both written and orally
  • A strong HVAC knowledge is preferred, but not required

Compensation:

Base pay range: $85,000 - $120,000
