Job Summary:The Quality Technician will support operations through processes and equipment to protect operators, ensure compliance to regulating authorities, meeting engineering specifications, and protecting Trane Technologies customers. Responsibilities: Partner with Operations when quality issues arise to inestigate and resolve issues to maintain production.
Partner with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering adn Operations to ensure that quality plans are established, followed and that processes are capable.
Develop & lead quality related training and coaching of hourly associates.
Lead problem solving initiatives to improve quality, safety and takt attainment.
Conduct product and process audits and participate in making needed improvements.
Coordinate and maintain calibration for plant and office equipment
Perform re-work, sorting or assist in directing these activities as needed.
Assist in development of PFMEA and control plans, along with monitor compliance to control plans.
Responsible for collecting, analyzing and communicating quality metrics and quality issues. Utilize data in support of projects that aim to reduce external failure rates, internal defect rates, reduce internal rework and improve customer satisfaction for products.
Track and conduct analysis of field warranty data and returned physical part analysis, use the FQA system.
Perform detailed part analysis using a variety of measuring instruments and interpreting engineering specifications and prints.
Full participation in training systems. Complete, assess, determine needs, etc.
Process track of non-conforming material
Ensure quality and process requirements are known & followed to enable customer requirement to be fulfilled and quality objectives to be achieved.
Implement and assist in development of Quality systems such as Quality at the Source, Quality ABC, etc.
Communicate with vendors regarding problems including handling Corrective action activities
Support, initiate and complete PPAP for internal and vendor supplied parts
Working with vendors and issuing and helping to process SCARS
Flexibility in schedule between various shifts.
Willingness to travel to assist in vendor or field quality education, inspection, rework and assessment.
Qualifications:
3-5 years in manufacturing preferred in an ISO9000 or recognized Quality Management System environment.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited college university is preferred. However, an associate's degree in a technical field with quality or manufacturing experience may be considered.
Knowledge and experience working with basic lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement tools and techniques including but not limited to MDI, Kaizen, Continuous flow and 5S.
Use of Quality methods and processes in inspection.
Strong capability with computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Office, ETQ, Oracle, etc.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including business acumen and understanding assembly operations.
Ability to collaborate and support various teams to achieve desired outcome.
Skilled in blueprint reading, and thorough working knowledge of GD&T. Basic knowledge of parts and features which may be critical in compressor applications. Skilled and capable of selecting and using various measuring equipment.
